Korean sentence structure

Build Korean sentences with the verb at the end.

Pattern

subject + object + verb

저는 커피를 마셔요.

I drink coffee.

How to use it

A common Korean sentence order is subject, then object, then verb. The verb usually comes at the end of the sentence.

Particles like 은/는, 이/가, and 을/를 help show what each noun is doing in the sentence.

Because particles carry meaning, Korean can sometimes move words around for emphasis, but keeping the verb at the end is a strong default.

Examples

저는 커피를 마셔요.

I drink coffee.

친구가 책을 읽어요.

My friend reads a book.

학생이 한국어를 배워요.

The student learns Korean.
